Biography

Coming from the Northwest of England, United Kingdom, Carl Cameron’s career to date is exemplified with a passion for music that began in the sweaty clubs of the northwest from 1989. Taking inspiration from the local clubs whilst clubbing in places like Maximes, Wigan Pier, Cream, The Drome and The State he was then lucky enough to venture over the water to experience various Northern Ireland clubs like Kelly’s and Circus Circus; he became an avid vinyl record collector picking up records from the likes of Snafu and Underground Records in Belfast and Groover and 3 Beat records in Liverpool and as far as Eastern Bloc in Manchester; he started to build a collection of tracks that defined a generation. After purchasing a set of Technics 1210’s; an innocent hobby elevated into much, much more. The hobby spiralled into not only DJing internationally and Producing tracks but running a successful record label “Salford City Records” and on to teaching students how to DJ. Carl passes on his vast experiences to students by instructing on bespoke courses engineered specifically for novices to learn how to DJ and for aspiring producers to learn, by instructing the basics of Ableton all under his own school “Pro DJ Training UK”. 

DJ

Carl is renowned for playing outstanding piano anthemic and old skool sets, which have been delivered live at many legendary clubs and events, such as Sankey’s (Manchester), More Cake (Chorley), Hard Dock (Liverpool), Back By Dope Demand (Manchester and Preston), S2S (Preston), Bac2Basics (Glasgow), Tin Tins & Anomaly (Birmingham), and just recently Wigan Piers 30th Birthday event. Carl is no stranger to playing internationally at venues such as Satisfaxtion 25-year Anniversary (Malaga) 89/90 Venue (Dublin) as well as the very beautiful Ibiza venues such as Ibiza Rocks and Itaca to name a few over the years.

Carl has graced the stages of some of the UKs biggest and best festivals, delivering sets to Pier on the Pier, 80’s 90’s festival, BTID & Reminisce festivals. We should also mention a fair share of radio station live shows such as Now FM Radio (Dublin).

Pianoman

In 2016 Carl was asked by James Sammon; the legendary old skool act “Pianoman” to join him as the DJ for his Pianoman brand. After an exciting 7 years DJing internationally, it came to an end in March 2022, deciding to leave to concentrate on his record label Salford City Records and strengthen his own brand.

Producer Roon (UK)

Carl Produces tracks under the pseudonym ROON (UK) and has 4 releases out in the global market – Drop an old skool beat, Detroit, Wom and Wise Guys, all of which are available from digital online stores.

Salford City Records

In 2019 Carl started a Record Label as a way for lesser-known producers to have the ability to release tracks. The record label Salford City Records, part of Salford City Media Limited, is one of the few labels releasing quality vinyl and digital tracks globally to a growing customer fan base. The label has grown year on year from 2019 and continues to grow today. This is testament to the quality driven behind the scenes work by Carl.  

Pro DJ Training UK

Passing on his experience to new aspiring DJ’s, Carl has set up a DJ and Producer Training school called “Pro DJ Training UK” where Carl provides specialised course curriculum on club standard equipment, giving students a very hands-on approach to DJing and Music Production. Courses of varying abilities are provided from a 3 hour DJ taster course to an 8 week Professional DJ Course, which covers how to DJ on Digital CDJ 3000’s, DJ on vinyl using Technics 1210 turntables and all pro software packages Rekord Box, Serato Pro, Virtual DJ and Traktor Pro. Carl’s Ableton Music Production course is specially written so that a student gains maximum hands on experience in producing a track from scratch, arrangement and basic mastering to track completion, included in the course.
